About the event
14th Annual Nick Gabaldón Day
Show Up. Surf. Celebrate the Culture.
Event Description
The Black Surfers Collective is bringing the community to the beach for the 14th Annual Nick Gabaldón Day — a full morning of surf, culture, and connection at The Historical Inkwell on Santa Monica Beach. Named after the first documented Black and Latino surfer in the United States, this event is a living tribute to a legacy that made space for all of us in the water. Free surf lessons will be available, the energy will be high, and the shoreline will be packed with people who show up every year because this celebration means something. Whether you are a surfer, a spectator, or someone who just wants to spend a Saturday morning surrounded by community, this is your invitation. Come as you are, bring the family, and help carry the tradition forward.
